Burgers! Need I say more?
For us, burgers are a must during the summer months - the first BBQ of the season, 4th of July and of course it is always one of our main courses at least one night while camping in the great outdoors.
I had never had a field roast burger until recently - they are quick, easy and delish!
We are not always purists when it comes to burgers - once in a while I do like a straight up burger with ketchup, mustard and relish. Other times I love a loaded burger- the more crap I can pile on the better.
This cheese burger is piled high with spicy slaw, veggie bacon, tomato and chao cheese.
You will totally want to double up on the slaw- make extra to enjoy on the side.
These past three months have been so much fun playing around with Chao Cheese - in all honesty I wasn't sure if this vegan cheese would impress, I thought that it would be good but like most vegan cheeses, good but not mind blowing.
Field Roast- you have hit it outta the park. Chao cheese is the only vegan cheese Justin has ever liked, I on the other hand absolutely LOVE IT. The taste, texture and versatility are so amazing- it makes the best grilled cheese, amazing stove top mac n' cheese - it melts so well and the flavor + texture are spot on/
Well done Field Roast. Well done.
Chao Cheeseburger // Slaw + Bacon
Serves 2
Prep Time: 5 Minutes
Cook Time: 8-10 minutes
you will need:
for the slaw
2 cups pre shredded coleslaw mix
⅓ cup just mayo or your favorite vegan mayonnaise
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1 tsp pure maple syrup
sriracha to taste
sea salt to taste
for the burgers
2 Hand-formed Field Roast Burgers
4 Strips Crisp Vegan Bacon
2 Slices Chao Creamy Original Slices
2 Seeded Buns*
4 Slices of tomato
Ketchup + Spicy Mustard
assembly:
In a medium bowl combine all ingredients for the slaw and mix until well combined. Cover and place in fridge until ready to use.
Place a medium frying pan over medium high heat, place the burgers in the pan and fry the burgers until golden brown about 3-4 minutes per side, you can also grill the burgers. Flip burgers and place 1 slice of Chao on each burger. Cover and reduce heat to low, cook an additional 3-4 minutes.
Dress the bottom of your burger bun with ketchup + mustard and layer with sliced tomatoes. Place the Chao Cheeseburger on the bun, top with crisp vegan bacon slices and slaw. Top with the other half of the bun + enjoy!
*Buns can be toasted - simply spread vegan butter on each bun half, place buttered side down on grill or on a fry pan over medium heat. Cook until golden + toasted.
We have been making field roast burgers with chao cheese on an everything bagel, and it's outta this world.
ReplyDeleteI know another recipe of bao burger. I've never done it myself, I like ordering food (yeah, I'm a lazy bastard), but this article still worth an attention I think.
