We are half way through Non Dairy Month- how crazy is that!
This weeks smoothie features 3 of my favorite things: almond milk, cherries and maca- total goodness in a glass.
Almond Milk is our go to milk for everyday drinking and baking. Nearly every morning during the work week Justin has a couple bowls of cereal drowned in Almond Milk. My Mom, who isn't even vegan or vegetarian has replaced her coffee creamer with Almond Milk - this stuff is good, no lie.
Pacific's almond milk, like all its products is organic, non GMO and sourced responsibly. As Pacific puts it
"We take organic almonds and add a gentle roast to allow their natural flavor to shine through. The result is our signature taste that’s a pleasure to drink by the glass and blends perfectly in your recipes. "
Almond milk is high in antioxidants, vitamins and minerals and heart healthy- you can also read about some pretty amazing benefits of almond milk here.
In addition to all the goodness almond milk provides, this smoothie is also packed with cherries which are known to reduce post workout muscle soreness, cherries are also rich in melatonin which helps to promote sleep by improving circadian rhythms and rich in 2 flavonoids that are known to release oxidative stress in turn helping slow down the aging process; score!
Maca another "super food" {aren't all plant based foods pretty super?} helps balance hormones, increases fertility and a slew of of other pretty amazing benefits that you can read about here.
To sum it up this smoothie is a powerhouse morning, noon and night- a super hero in a glass.
