pb coco banana smoothie

Justin and I recently completed a three day Juice Cleanse designed by Jus by Julie- there was a pretty awesome deal on Groupon so I snapped it up in a hurry. I have done juice fasts in the past but have always gone the homemade route. Honestly, having the juices shipped to me and ready to go was pretty amazing and a total time saver. Many of the Juices can be easily recreated at home- two of my favorites were Peanut Butter Banana & Island Coconut. This is my version of the Peanut Butter Banana- let me tell you, it is totally addicting!

I made this on the second morning of our fast- it took about 5 minutes and 3 ingredients, 4 if you use the cacao nibs. The results were amazing...after I made this I felt kind of silly for spending money on a Juice fast.

I could have totally gone an extra 2 or 3 days- next month I am planning out a 7 day fast that will include smoothies similar to Jus by Julie and some warm pureed very clean eating soups. You can enjoy this right when you make it or set it in the fridge for a  bit to chill. If you have Popsicle molds these would make awesome fudgsicles!

If you are interested in an awesome clean eating/green smoothie challenge you should check out this plan from Somer at Vedged Out! For convenience purposes I would totally do Jus by Julie again if time didn't allow for me to create my own each day, if you have the time Somer's is an amazing balanced plan that is sustainable for longer periods of time.

The best part about this smoothie- it tastes super decadent and can be prepared in a food processor or blender; it's almost like dessert in a cup!

  2. Mm, I love chocolate and peanut butter smoothies! I love the cocoa nibs on top, too. I've done juice fasts before, but I've always made the juice myself. Would be so convenient to not have it all pre-made! :)

  6. I'm in transition of becoming a vegan, but I have to ask why do most vegan recipes not include nutritional information? I have hypertension and always like to check calories, fat, protein, etc. Can you answer this question? Thank you

    1. For me, personally, I do not count calories therefore do not compute the calories for my recipes - many plant based whole foods diets are low in calories & fat and high in all the right areas. There are several calorie counting / calorie recipe computing sites available online that you could enter the recipe information into on your own :)
